Phew what a day!

Saturday 13th February 2010 15:39

Well, today has been one of those days...as the shop has been filled with ladies since the moment we got here this morning, and so I have had a very jolly and busy day!
The coffees have been flowing, and many of the ladies knew one another so a bit of a party type atmosphere. To be truthful, although it is only 3.41 at the moment, I am just about pooped! And, I still have to go to the pool for my 20 mins swim.... I reward myself at the end with 15 minutes in the steam room, which I absolutely love, and you can literally feel the stress in your body melt away....I cant wait!

I feel I should emphasise to all you long distance ladies, that we still have a lot more stock to arrive....for the first time ever, Rundholz has put a linen group into the Black label collection...plus there is more black stretchy. Then we have 3 new labels so far not delivered yet...and we are very keen to see LUNN, which is a diffusion collection by Lilith.....so hopefully we'll see some more deliveries this week.

Albane Olika, so classy!

Saturday 13th February 2010 11:40

We just got our Summer delivery from French designer Albane. I think I may have compared her to Shirin Guild before now....as she is a 'master' of drape, but her clothes arent big or voluminous. Also the fabrics are delectable, as was Shirins, and lastly, made in France....so no Far Eastern manufacture.
These have been photographed...and will be online early next week. Additionally the latest bits and bobs from Rundholz (big net dresses and skirts) will appear online today.

Tomorrow we have another early start, as we head to London for the Pure show....I feel obliged to check this out, just in case the ''best thing since sliced bread' is sitting there waiting for me to buy it. But mainly, I have done all my shopping for Autumn, abroad.

It means that we have lost another weekend to work, but this is countered by the fun and excitement of all that buying!

Our little dog Aldo is not allowed to attend the British shows...as he is in Germany...so tomorrow, my Mum has to spend the day at our house looking after him!! He likes poached chicken and rice for his supper...so she'll be kept on her toes!

Finally, the weather seems to be improving a little...we were up to 5 degs as we drove in today, and although not sunny, is a little brighter.....and I for one am praying that the snow is now finished for this Winter!

Back again soon!

Beckys research on Obesity for HM Gov.

Wednesday 10th February 2010 12:34

Today we are busy with Becky....she has been touring the UK holding workshops and focus groups with overweight and obese members of the public. And I am sorry to say, that I also fit into this category.

For the research, I am to be filmed cooking a typical dinner that I would eat on a weekly basis...so I am getting that ready now. A yummy piece of wild salmon, baked with tomatoes and asparagus with new potatoes. And for the record, I did buy the usual very large pieces of fish, rather than a scaled down for the camera version! Whoever sees this film might as well see the truth, I figured! They even filmed the inside of my fridge and in all my cupboards as they checked to see what food I really had in stock!

But we have been beset by delays, as here in Norfolk the airport was closed (she was arriving by plane) and the trains are running late...so as usual, no time for relaxing!

I was a good girl earlier though, and Clive and I did go for a swim, and so I've had my exercise!

I stand corrected.....

Tuesday 9th February 2010 18:44

My last blog, featured info on the upcoming amazing Winter collection from my favourite designer, Mr Rundholz. In the blog, I mentioned that one of the new colours was called 'plum', although I called it navy blue! I was thinking that plums were more maroon than navy blue.

Well....since then, I have received a personal e-mail from Carsten Rundholz himself...explaining that in his garden, HIS plums are navy blue!! And of course I realise that they are not all maroon, some indeed are dark blue!!! So I stand corrected....and very pleased I was to hear from him too....it is a great honour to work with such a talented man...and I am also surprised and flattered that he finds time to read my blog. How cool is that?

Well, after trooping around all the showrooms just about in Dusseldorf...I can confirm that all the designers must have navy blue plums in their gardens....as this is the number one featured colour for Fall. Followed by chianti, black and brown. Plus a hint of cyclamen, purple and lime. As always we have dropped a couple of labels and added some new ones...more information to appear on that over the coming months.

We finally arrived home this afternoon...and will be working from home tomorrow before returning to our week long shift on Thursday....we are really hoping to be swamped soon with new deliveries...nothing new came whillst we were away, other than a couple of pieces of black label.

Clive and I celebrate our 30th Wedding anniversary today....can you just believe it?! He got me a charming card which he gave me in the hotel room this morning, which I promptly forgot to bring home with me....I was rather cross with myself. And then when we got home, my mum had sent us a big bouquet....so that was a nice surprise too.

More tomorrow.
