Is it a shorter day? or is it because we are all enjoying our days off from work that help the day go so quickly?
Today, we were thrilled to find the sun was shining, so we hurried up and got out into the fresh air. We headed off to Southwold, and walked right along the prom, and then we sat outside on the pier, with no coats on, and enjoyed a mug of hot chocolate. We were sooo warm, we just sat there for ages, it was a real treat!
Tomorrow, to continue the saga of no broadband at the shop, we have to leave home at 7am, to get to work for 8am, to let in a BT engineer who will be coming sometime between 8am and 1pm.....so we could be at work 2 hours early for nothing!! It just reminds me of our phone connection at our house in France...we were given a period of 15mins leeway, and an exact day and time . And the guy turned up exactly when he said he would!! How come they can do it! (Dont get me started on the French, as we get our three bins emptied twice a week there too!)
Anyway, Clive is working away as I write, loading up the latest Barbara Speers delivery, and then we are just about caught up for this week. Hopefully we'll have more new deliveries soon! And dont forget, we have new labels...Consequent, Sonas, and Lunn....so lots to look forward too.
Yesterday, we got a letter from BT telling us that our broadband would be finishing on the same day, and thanking us for our business. Well.....yikes...panic or what?, and what on earth were they talking about? We didnt ask to cancel our service, and amazingly, we had paid all the bills!! So naturally Clive got on the blower to ask them about it.....fast forward 36 hours, and apart from the overnight 'at home' section, Clive has been on the phone to at least 20 BT employees ever since, and still we have no broadband!!
I come to you on this blog, courtesy of the next shop along having a connection, and we have signed into his service ( with his permission!). Meanwhile, we are still absolutely up the creek with our own service, as every transaction we make on the shop floor, goes through our live EPOS system which runs on our website.
The effect this has had on the week, is that the stock that we have photographed to go online cannot be uploaded, and of course, there are ladies waiting to view it....so many apologies if you are one of them!
Needless to say, we will be working away as best as we can to get up to date as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your patience.
Have a nice weekend!
Those readers who know the team at Walkers, will already 'know' my daughter who is an Ethnographic Researcher, working for her own business in central London. Well, she is, through the medium of this blog, looking for some overweight ladies (or men!) to interview.
Basically, the research is directly for the Department of Health, and they are asking some serious and in depth questions.
Ideally, you must not be attending Weight Watchers or any of the other Diet services, and you must be available for an interview sometime quite soon, which may last 4 hours. This will be at your home, at a time to suit you. Becky is particularly seeking people who live outside of London . There is a reward of £50 for this interview.
Any interested candidates, who would like to get their opinions heard, should in the first place send their contact details and a very brief description of themselves to Bex@walkersofpottergate.com
Recently I was messing around on my facebook page, and accidentally permanently removed some customers names, whereas I was trying to place them in a sub group so I could keep them all together. This has resulted in me losing several ladies names! So if you were one that was removed, I am really sorry, and I hope you are able to 'come back'!
I must get myself better acquainted with the system so I dont do that again! One of my customers (she;ll know who she is!!) is really busy with her Farmville application, and it looks like she is having a lot of fun with it, fertilising her produce and sorting out her cows...I would love to get involved. The simple reason I dont, is that it looks addictive, and I dare not spare the time. I can see that once in, it would be very hard to stop. Maybe when I have a week off in France, if the weather is not so good, I'll have a little go.
My mother splays scrabble a lot on her laptop, and again, I dare not install it to mine, as I just know I would be slipping in the odd game, when I was supposed to be working. I'm bad enough as it is, and have my laptop and blackberry on all my waking hours and constantly take my mail and update the Walkers site. I cant get 'addicted ' to any more applications!!
What are your favourites? Let me know!
Yesterday, in came some fabby Grizas, and this has been photographed, and also some really lovely Barbara Speers...which is waiting to be photographed. Both groups are really nice, and some items already sold yesterday!
You may also notice gaps in sizes in the new Rundholz...this is selling really quickly, and two or three ladies already have missed out on the sizes they need. On the whole, Rundholz is not repeatable...and although I have bought a big lot, it soon disappears.
We are expecting several more groups, and for the first time ever, there will be a plain linen group for the Black Label. All the rest of it will arrive over the next week or two.
