It was 4.50am this morning when my mobile and my landline were ringing furiously....and this was my son, who had just heard from Easy Jet, to say that his returning flight from Salzburg back to the UK was cancelled. So the question for me, was, could I please research the internet and find him an alternate route home!
Well, I tried to function, but had to keep him waiting whilst I made a cuppa...then after much searching around, managed to find him an alternative flight later today...but at a cost of £200...yikes...but he is a policeman, and he doesnt have much flexibility on his shift system, and he really needed to get back...so out came the credit card, and the new flight was booked! All this by 5.30 in the morning!! Not bad eh?
Well, needless to say, we hopped back to bed, and have woken up to find that it is raining here in Lowestoft! Now that is amazing after all the snow we have seen. So the temperature must be rising just a tad. Hurrah!
Clive is working (and cussing away like mad) as he tries to get the rest of the Rundholz Black Label online for you, and hopefully if I drive him hard enough, it will all be done by tonight. We have much more new stock coming to the shop tomorrow, so we need to get right up to date with this lot.
Oh dear, we have been busy today! 4 BIG boxes, packed full of Rundholz black label collection. We have dresses, skirts, trousers, jackets, coats and tops. This drop is purely plain fabric...either cotton t-shirting, or cotton and elastane stretchy but firm fabric.
The colours are black (well now, theres a surprise!), and chalk, asphalt and grey. Clive is busy with the camera right now, and we will aim to have these delectable items online by Sunday afternoon. (I will not let him stop even for a little moment!!!). The time consuming bit, is the digital bit after the photo's are taken.
Other than that, we are still snowed up, but managing to get around ok!
More news tomorrow!
I am rather keen on little wild birds, and have quite a big bird feeder station just outside my kitchen window. All types of seeds and nuts are on offer, plus coconuts, and home made fat balls. But listening to the radio the other day, it was said that the robins really like mealworms, especially in this weather.
So yesterday I went to the pet shop and bought a couple of bags, plus a tub full of (rather smelly) dead insects, also recommended. As I am working from home at the moment, it has been a great pleasure to see the birds lapping up the goodies! I've also put out lots of fresh water, and although I have to keep replacing it, because it freezes so quickly, the birds are enjoying that too!
To be honest, I can waste rather too much time sitting looking out of the window, watching the birds!!
Luckily my three cats are too lazy and asleep to be bothered with checking out the birds....so no murders taking place at the moment.
Today we drove into Norwich from Suffolk, quickly and easily, but after being there for an hour, about 2 inches of snow fell on the city, and showing no signs of abating. So we took the decision to close the shop, and start the slow journey home. In just a short space of time the roads had really deteriorated.
So here I am, sitting at home in the office, and getting up to date with the admin part of the website. Also, we clear some of our bits and pieces of older stock on EBAY, so today I am loading that up too. We must keep busy.
Aldo, and the cats are all snuggled up together on the sofa, keeping warm and watching that I dont make space on my lap for one of them to jump into. Right now, it is my laptop that is taking priority!
I truly hope that all readers and their families are safe and sound, and not stuck in the car on the side of the oad somewhere. We'll be back to normal soon, I am sure!
Today, whilst we were cosy in the shop, a poor lady slipped over in the street outside, and actually broke her arm. Clive brought her into the shop, and we called the ambulance...it quickly arrived, and whisked her off, with a big dose of gas and air to help her with the pain.
She was in a great deal of discomfort...and we were totally unable to help her with it, so a very frustrating few moments!
The street outside is like an ice skating rink...and really tricky. We have the radio on, and the news is terrifically bad all around the country, due to the very cold spell. Hopefully things will improve soon!
This frightful cold weather makes it seem even more surprising that we are making any sales...and we are even selling new Summer stock! How crazy is that!! Still lots of lucky ladies are off to sunnier climes, and they need to get some nice linens, so very good for us!
I trust you are all safe and cosy! Back again soon...
