It is Sunday again, and boring as it may seem, we nearly always have a Roast dinner late on Sunday afternoons, and 9 times out of 10, my mum rolls up to join us. I have got progressively lazy when cooking a roast, and since the 'invention' of Aunt Bessies yorkshire puddings, bought from the frozen section of the supermarket, I normally use them.
This saves a bit of mixing up batters, and extra washing up....BUT today, I decided that I fancied making them properly! So I got all domestic and baked my own! and I am really pleased to report that they are lookng really good...well puffed up and light and golden!
We usually forego lunch on Sundays, so we can indulge in a big dinner! And now I'm just about to start cooking...back again tomorrow!
Yesterday, Clive and I were at the shop, not 'working' in the regular way, but up the ladders hanging the outside Christmas lights. This is made rather more tricky, by the fact that the ground is quite sloped all around the shop, causing the ladders to need to be propped up by varying thickness bits of wood! All very precarious! Anyway, we are lit up properly now, very festive.
Today, having soaked a couple of pounds of dried fruit in brandy, I did the rest of the baking for a Delia Christmas cake, and all afternoon, have had to endure the smell of cake baking, whilst knowing that we cant actually eat any of it for another 3 weeks!
We've also had 'our heads down' on the website, as the new development is nearly finished and Clive and I have to learn our way around the system, in readiness for going live in a few weeks time. I must say, it is a bit more complicated that I am used to, and I quickly got bored! So I sneakily was reading up on the X Factor gossip and other rubbish, rather than my website. Clive didnt realise I wasnt really looking at it properly...as I simply agreed with all his comments, and he didnt notice I was messing about!
Tonight is the semi final of the X Factor, and all bets are on Joe to win...he sings well, but I find him rather dull...so I am slightly losing interest.
Several of the ladies on my facebook, look like they are keen farmers, on Farmville. I dare not get into this, as I can see myself becoming rather involved, and devoting too much time to it. But I want to know...is it good fun? And should I give it a go?
I've been going for 6 weeks now, and have reluctantly got to admit, that I probably need to go for 6 years....although I seem to have some skills, with drawing and colour, I am completely lacking in the 'patience' department, and tend to want to hurry along too much.
Louise is in charge for the next few days, as it is her 'shift' now, so I'll sign off for a few days!
Back soon!
As a shopkeeper, I think that I get to go to some of the best places for shopping....the trade showrooms of all the best (in my opinion) Fashion Designers. So I shop for a living! However, when I do the buying, I concentrate solely on what I need for the shop...I am looking at collections that suit small ladies, or unconventional styles, or great basics, and I have a kind of shopping list that I need to get through for each season.
Buying some big clothes is also on my agenda (which is what I need), and I do buy quite a lot of them. But I never buy for me personally! So each season when the deliveries arrive, and I am thinking 'ooooh that is nice', that is when, 'in theory' I should book the garment out of stock and into my wardrobe!
BUT, I so rarely do this, that my wardrobe is completely underwhelmed...and I now officially declare myself as having 'nothing to wear'!! The reason I limit myself, is because Walkers is a business first and foremost, and not there to fund my wardrobe!
Having said that, I do wear 'Walkers' all the time, as it is important to 'fly the flag', but possibly next season, I need to 'get in first' and grab myself some posh new gear!
