My daughter lives very close to London's famous 'Borough Market' and so it was very convenient for her to nip there to get the food shopping. We're really excited to anticipate our Ribs of Beef for tomorrows dinner, as coming from the wonderful organic butcher on the market there.
I've made a family favourite boiling of Red Cabbage, made with lots of goodies, including raspberry vinegar, and Clives contribution was to make the brandy butter for dessert. We like LOTS of brandy, and Mark has made the Christmas pudding...so a real joint effort.
Funny how families have traditions isnt it...we were talking recently how many people would have been enjoying family dinners over in the USA for Thanksgiving....Does anyone in the UK like Pumpkin Pie?..I have tried it on a few occasions and declared it to be absolutely vile...but my American sister in law feels exactly the same way about Xmas pudding!
Anyway...we are hoping for decent weather for the drive to London, so will report back again on Monday.
Have a lovely weekend!
Watching the news on TV last night, the reporters were concentrating their interviews on the businesses that have been flooded out on the High Street in Cockermouth...(forgive me if I've got the wrong town, my geography for Northern England isnt great). But anyway...all the shops are closed down and their stock just lies in heaps on the floor, sodden and ruined.
How must those poor people feel, I can empathise totally with them, imagining how I would feel if it were Walkers that was affected in this way. As you know, our business is our life...we live and breathe it all the time, and most likely, those people do the same. Until the shop premises are dried out and repairs made, there is no way they can get going again. So what will they do for income? How will they keep themselves solvent?
I can only hope they were all well insured and that the insurance loss adjusters make quick decisions and fair payouts, so that newly fitted and stocked out shops can open their doors again soon and life will be put back into their High Street.
