Keeping up to date.

Sunday 18th October 2009 21:38

Although I am 'on holiday', I am able to keep up to date with all the ladies who have visited the shop, by checking our online sales system. The reason I do this, is so that at some future date when those same ladies come back into the shop, I have a fair idea of what they bought.

I have a good memory, and it serves me well, when we are assessing the merits of future sales/purchases, if we keep an eye on earlier purchases. It is very nice to build up the wardrobe with lots of co-ordinating pieces that all work together. Sometimes I have said to my customers 'but you already have one of those', and to their surprise I remember what they bought, better than they do!

I have enjoyed the weekend, because the mates that came to help us do the garden came, and between us all we got the whole job under control, and we are very pleased with the final results. The weather has been amazing too!

Back again soon!

BTW, Becky is off to see the new 'secret label' tomorrow...so we will know whether or not we shall have it in store by the end of the day.
I shall be awaiting her opinions eagerly.

Making cakes today...!

Friday 16th October 2009 14:39

We have some mates coming for the weekend, to give us a hand as we blitz our garden, which since we moved in, has been ignored. So I thought that the best way to keep them 'up to speed' would be to ply them with home made cake!
In a past life of mine, I did make cakes for a living, and I vowed when I stopped doing that to never make a cake again, and indeed, I threw away all the cake tins and assorted paraphanalia that I had. So this week I went to TK Maxx (of all places) and stocked up with lovely cake tins, and this morning I have been trying my new oven and kitchen out!
So far, have created Jamie olivers Nans lemon drizzle cake, and Delias Victoria Cake...and all going well!

My daughter called me half way through the production and we had a little chat about what I was doing. I had to smile to myself, as she went into lots of details and gave me many 'tips' on how best to make my cakes! I listened intently, and said I would 'do all she said'.....but didnt mention that it was me who taught her how to bake cakes in the first place! She is slowly turning into my 'mum' and her advice on all things (including cakes) is always very well thought out and gratefully received.
Whereas my actual Mum, is very glad not to be offering me advice on cake making (her cakes are legendary, but not for the obvious reasons) and she is always very happy to encourage my efforts by enjoying eating whatever I put in front of her. Hopefully there will be some cake left for her to try next time I see her!

An explanation of the returns system.

Wednesday 14th October 2009 19:27

As many of you are aware, we are obliged under the distance selling laws to offer a no quibble refund al longs as goods are returned within 14 days. And we normally make the refund to your credit card within minutes of the postman bringing back the parcel.
These days with ever more secure and encrypted payments systems on our website, we dont actually get any information with regard to your credit card, and to make the refund we go into the HSBC payments system and we can simply return the money, without ever knowing your private information.
Please can I remind any reader that we really do need to adhere to the 14 days rule, and also, may I thank the majority of customers who return to us almost intantly! That is really brilliant! Thank you.

Louise is in charge!!

Monday 12th October 2009 11:05

After today, I shall be off from work at the shop for a few weeks. I shall spend part of my time in the UK and the rest in France. BUT, I will be answering all mail and enquiries in the usual fairly quick fashion.

Louise and Karen will be on the shop floor, so if you need any measurements, the quickest way to get them is to call the shop on 01603 618718. If you are in a different time zone, then e-mail me in the usual way, and I will come back to you as quickly as I can.
