Last few days in France

Friday 19th June 2009 22:00

We've been really lucky as we have been here for 7 weeks...and although we are fully up to date with our Walkers work, we have also had a great holiday.
This week, we have been planning our new 'all singing and all dancing' website, which has taken a lot of organising, and we hope to roll this out to you by the middle of August, and hopefully when we get the new Autumn stock going online.
And everyday at about 3pm we close the computers down, and go out on the boat. Yesterday, we somehow managed to catch the sun a bit too much and we both felt a bit red in the face, hopefully this will have worn off a bit before we hit the streets of Norwich.
As you know, Louise and Karen have been manning the shop in my absence, much to the delight of the customers...but I'm afraid that by next Friday, you'll only have me again and they will only be in occasionally!! How bad is that?

The sale will commence on Sat 27th June...and will continue for the month of July. See you again soon!

Skimmed milk...

Monday 15th June 2009 09:44

When in the UK, we either buy skimmed, or semi skimmed milk, as although only a small thing, we do try to keep the fat content down. But here in France there is no skimmed whatsoever, the semi is still quite creamy and the full cream tastes like Jersey cream. So we are wishing the French had their milk labelled with fat content and the variety better for our needs!
The other thing, is that one litre of milk costs 2.38 euros, which is roughly £2. Our UK milk must be around £1.75 for 4 pints. Presumably this means our farmers are not getting paid enough for the product? Or do Sainsburys sell the milk at a loss to get us into the store to spend money on other more profitable items?
