Although the supermarkets do not open locally here on Sundays, our lovely little optician does open, and Clive had an appointment for an eye test. Remarkably, there is no charge for this service here, and they are very attentive and informative about what they are doing.
Clive has been complaining that his middle distance vision was not satisfied by his present spectacles, and sure enough, the tests proved the same. So it was time to choose a new pair of frames, to cater for the change of lens. There are sooo many cool frames here, that it was quite difficult to choose....I found some I liked for me too! But I was a very good girl and resisted!
The rest of the day was spent preparing our new EBay shop for Walkers...which still needs much more work on it, and we have yet to get any stock on it....but all the approvals and terms and conditions take ages to get authorised. The weather is still a bit iffy, so we were happy to be indoors.
Tonight we look forward to watching the final of The Apprentice....I hope that Kate wins...as am not so keen on the other girl.
The sun was bright again today, so we whipped out to a little place called Maubuisson, which is on the South side of the lake that we live close to.
The lake is actually about 18km long, so really great for some good sailing, and we went around to the Bordeaux Sailing Club to see the race organiser, about a race we hope to enter later in the month.
This little village has a long curved and tree lined promenade, and the sandy beach besides the prom is pristine. Amazingly, these people seem to have a very short summer season, and we were the only people down there. Aldo had a lovely run on the beach, and we enjoyed it!
This afternoon, both Clive and I must get on with Walkers website matters....but Clive does have the Turkish Grand Prix trials on the TV, which I find most annoying! GGrrrrrr.....

We were very lucky because when we first got here, the weather was really wet...but for the time that we've had visitors, we've enjoyed perfect holiday weather. Now they've all returned to the UK, the weather has changed again to rain!
Normally rain is not a good thing, but at the moment it is! Clive has his head stuck into his laptop, as he is organising our E Bay shop, and making some changes to that, and I am doing even more exciting tasks, such as ironing and floor mopping. We have an entire house with ceramic tiles, and I have turned into one of those ladies you see when on summer holidays in spain, every morning 'mopping down'. With the dog and the cats, it is amazing how often it needs doing.
Today I had to go to the French equivalent of the local Social Security office, so before I went, I wrote down all what I wanted to say, by doing a Google Translation, and simply handing this to the lady behind the counter. However, I was most impressed to be answered in near perfect English! Anyway, she couldnt actually help me....but it was good to be able to understand her.
Our French is improving, but we're very timid about speaking, and much better at reading. Perhaps time will help this!
Today, I have been booking all the journeys for the buying for Spring 2010 collections, which start off in just a few weeks from now, in Dusseldorf. Our first taste of the season will be then, and this will follow through with the London and Paris shows, over the course of the Summer. We've had a a brilliant Spring this year, and at this time, we are thinking about what we want for this time next year, and more importantly, what we dont want.
One label I am in two minds about, is the Tutta Natura collection, simply on the basis that they were late by almost 4 months on the delivery....and they kept fobbing us off with excuses during that period. However, the goods that did get delivered were very nice, and well received by the ladies! So they will have to work very hard to get my order.
If there are collections that you think we should stock, please e-mail me with your ideas! We tend to avoid goods from the USA...although there are some really marvellous designers, the UK import duty we have to pay this end, and the often poor exchange rate between the £ and the $ make the collections seem very expensive. This is such a pity, because there is some amazing stuff across the pond!
Anyway...I'll look forward to hearing any ideas you may have.
I always write my blogs about my life and whatever I am doing on a daily level....and of course, my life is no more exciting than anyone elses. But I have been wondering whether I should continue! However, the reason I do the blog in this way, is for my long distance customers to get to know me, and the other members of staff that I write about. It makes our website personal, and highlights us as real people, rather than just an anonymous website.
We get to know all our local customers, and over time, we build up relationships with them so the blog provides some insights to us and our business.
Today, I am working away on the laptop with a long extension lead allowing the computer into the garden. Here in SW France the temperature has soared, and so my Mum and I are making the best of the sun! It is the 4th Bank Holiday in France within the last 4 weeks! So all the shops are closed yet again.
