Britains Got Talent...

Sunday 24th May 2009 19:39

We have Uk tv, via satellite, down here in South West France, and so continue to watch our favourite programmes whilst here. Last night, we watched the Britains Got Talent show, whilst round at some friends house for dinner. Well....what an eye opener!! We were amazed at some of the stuff shown, including a man that swung heavy objects from holes in his ears. It was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen on TV.

Now, the prize for winning this show, is the chance to perform ones 'act', in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance later in the year. So really, will she want to watch such a thing? I think not.

So, I am hoping that those who watch the show from the UK, who can vote, do not vote to keep the ear swinging man in the show! I cannot vote from here...so I am hoping that Britains Got 'Taste'!!!

Clive is back in Norwich tonight....he is going to open up the shop tomorrow (Bank Holiday Monday)....so if you are in Norwich, pop in to see him!

One more day to go until my kids arrive for a couple of days! Hurrah..I can hardly wait to see them.

Back again soon!

Some sun at last!

Saturday 23rd May 2009 11:22

The blog has been quiet for a couple of days, as I havent been indoors so much. In fact, I have either been laying on my sun lounger reading, or we've been out sailing. The wind and sun were just perfect for both these 'activities'! However....I have gone rather pink! As I have caught the sun more than I expected!
Today, I'm planning on catching up with my e-mails, and having just spoken to Louise back at the shop, between us we have a few to see to! So no lazing around for me!
Tomorrow Clive heads back to Walkers....so if you need anything from the shop on Bank Holiday Monday, when technically the shop is closed, he will actually be there working away in the office. The shop number is 01603 618718, and if you want him to open up, just give him a 'bell' and he will run down the stairs and let you in!

Walkers orders.

Wednesday 20th May 2009 14:11

Today, I am using the blog to remind customers of the terms and conditions that we are all obliged to follow in the pursuit of internet buying and selling. As far as we can see, we are obliged to (and very happy to) make refunds for all goods returned to us that are in new condition, with labels intact, and posted to us within 14 days of the receipt of same goods. The reason for this blog, is that we are finding that some customers are sending goods back 2 months after the order was despatched!!
Additionally, ladies from outside the UK are lucky enough to buy their goodies exempt from UK sales tax (VAT). However, in order for us to not have to pay VAT on the same goods when they are returned to us, it is crucial that the parcel is marked with the information to the customs officers, that the goods are of UK origin, being returned for credit.
Today, we received an order from mid March, and to add insult to injury, we had to pay £20 import duty to the customs officer! Now, we like to be easy going, relaxed and obliging, but this one really isnt fair to us! We've lost two good months of selling season, and for this, we have had to pay £20.
Sorry to be 'ranting'...I know this isnt the usual style of my blog...but I am just feeling a teensie weensie bit annoyed!
Back in usual fine fettle again tomorrow!

Dentist today...and other ramblings

Monday 18th May 2009 19:43

Last week I had a cast taken for a new crown, to be fitted today. But when the lump of playdough type material was rammed into my mouth last week, it was really uncomfortable, and I must have wriggled about a bit.
So today, my new crown was to have been fitted....but alas, it didnt fit. To my horror, I had to have another mould taken but this time I was prepared, and managed to keep my mouth totally still. In another week I have to return to the dentist and this time I am expecting to find my new crown a perfect fit. I literally broke my tooth in half whilst eating a lovely piece of French bread, so it was really urgent to get some relief from the problem!

The rest of the day was spent slogging away at Walkers work...grrrr....it is really time consuming entering all next seasons stock! But the job will be well worth it later in the year.

The rain has stopped and the forecast is looking brilliant for the rest of the week. So far, I havent had a chance to sunbathe once since I left Norwich...so I am really hopeful that my chance is just about to arrive.

Clive goes back to Norwich at the weekend....he has work to do that can only be done in situ...and whilst he is away, our two kids are coming here for a visit. I cant wait to see them.

Its 'D' (for delivery) day tomorrow for the six month awaited dish washer. Well...I'm taking bets for whether it comes or not. Clive says it will...I'm only 50% convinced! More tomorrow.....
