Walkers work today!

Sunday 17th May 2009 13:01

Well, here in South West France we are still 'enjoying' plentiful rain. So today I am getting on with my Walkers work.....and entering all the details for the next seasons stock. This is a somewhat laborious task, but one that must be done.
Clive and Aldo are out in the garden shovelling up dead ferns...which grow very prolifically around here...and then later they will go off to the tip.
Did I mention befroe that we have foot imprints from Wild Boar in our garden? Quite big feet they have too...so presumably they are quite large animals. But we havent seen any in person. I'm not sure whether they present a risk to our cats.....
Then later when we have had enough of these boring tasks. we'll put on our rain wear and go for a cycle ride.....down to the marina, where we'll get a beer.
What are you up to on a Sunday? Let me know!

Chaffinch's, Blue tits and the like!

Saturday 16th May 2009 13:49

We have become avid little bird watchers, since we put up all the bird feeders in the garden, and also bought loads of little fat balls to hang around the trees....and boy...have we got some activity going on now!!

We can hardly take our eyes off all the different sorts we have here, and have printed off loads of pictures from the RSPB website, so we can identify more easily.

This afternoon, we are off to the garden centre to get some more bits and pieces to enhance the area for the birds. Also I am looking for a lemon tree, and some more fruit bushes.

Louise is busy back at the shop, but if you need her for anything, call her on 01603 618718, and she'll be ready to help!

The Dishwasher Saga

Tuesday 12th May 2009 09:21

Last September when our French kitchen was installed, the electrical appliances were too, and upon our first try to use the dishwasher, it didnt work. It took six weeks of umming and aahing from the suppliers to agree to get us a new one, but by this time, we were back in the UK, and not there to get it fitted.
When we came here in March, we contacted the supplier and told them we were back, but after much ado, they could not deliver to us in the time scale we were available. So on this trip, we called into the supplier on the way down here, and sat there for 2 hours, whilst it was organised that we would get the replacement delivered today!

Hurrah...so today has arrived, and first thing this morning we got a telelphone call to say that they dont have one the same in stock!! Will we accept another model? Which we are asked to choose without seeing them, or knowing if they are comparable quality to our original model.
Dearie me, we are so fed up with this saga....and cant understand why in the intervening time from last November to this May, they havent ordered us a replacement to be identical to the one we had before. Again...because we cant express our consternation in French, like we would in the UK, we are somewhat frustrated.

In the meantime we are plodding on with the washing up...but not best pleased having spent 750 Euro's on a super bit of kit! Lets see what happens!

7 hours later...we have been told we have to wait another week!
