Well, we have lots of liquid sunshine here in South West France, so feeling somewhat disappointed. But we have got lots of jobs to do to get the house up and running again...so have been very busy.
As you know, we towed a sailing boat down here this time, with a view to sailing it on the lake nearby, and after much disappointment about not finding a mooring, today we joined the Bordeaux Sailing Club and they do have a mooring we can use, and they can lift the boat in for us...so we are really pleased about this. Hopefully by the end of this week, we'll be launched and bobbing around in the sun!
Tonight I am preparing the most peculiar meal I have ever done for guests....peculiar, in that they have asked me to cook them UK style Fish and Chips! Something that of course is not available here, and they live here full time. I've brought mushy peas with me, and at their request, Sarsons Vinegar! How bizarre!!
I promise that the rest of our food will be more representative of the area we live in. Incidentally, we are about 10 miles away from the vineyards of Baron Phillipe Rothschild...and this morning we drove past his Chateau for a reccie. No free samples by the side of the road, needless to say!
Back again soon!
Hi All
We had a very good journey...about 950 miles altogether, and towing a boat. So very glad to be here safe and sound. The only problem we had was that we couldnt get the broadband onto the pooters...so I'm just working through a mountain of e-mail All will be answered today...and we'll be back onto normal communications from now on.
Luckily the weather is not good...so I can happily sit in my office, without the urgent need to throw myself onto a deckchair!
I'll be blogging the whole time we're away... do do keep reading!
More from us in France very soon
A xx
Later today we shall set off on the first leg of the journey to France...complete with cats and dog and towing a boat! But I am writing this blog to say that I will be online on a regular basis throughout the journey, and so keep the enquiries coming.
My laptop is connected whilst 'on the road' so no problems with communications!
The shop will be open in the normal way...but with opening hours of 10-5.30, Monday to Saturday, and Louise and Karen will be at the helm.
As many of you know, I am addicted to my computer, and consequently, answer all my e-mails almost immediately, even when I am travelling or on holiday. But I am struggling a bit, because increasingly, ladies who e-mail me, are writing their e-mail addresses slightly wrong, or if they give their telephone number, often there is a digit missing.
This means that I cannot answer their queries, and they are no doubt thinking that I have forgotten them, or even worse, that I cant be bothered to answer. Last week, and the week before, I had several such e-mails...and so all those ladies still have no response from me.
So PLEASE....if you write to me, make sure that you give me the correct information with which I can contact you! Thanks!
I'm off again this week for about 6 weeks...but I will be working every day, and in direct contact with Louise and Karen at the shop, so please keep your enquiries and telephone calls coming in the usual way!
After watching the weather all week, seeing blue skies and people lazing around in the sun I was looking forward to doing the same over the weekend! Well....how wrong was I? Southwold was cloudy, verging on chilly! But still very enjoyable.
