Here I am, back in the UK, having just got off the ferry, and plugged back into my laptop to catch up on my jobs. Before returning to Norfolk, we have to drive to central London to pick up my car from Bexy, who has been using it whilst I'm away. We shall have a quick cuppa with her, and hopefully a piece of Birthday Cake (it is Clives birthday today) and then we'll be on the last leg home.
Louise has done an absolutely magnificent job back at the shop, and it has been great to leave it in her capable hands, the first time we have felt completely happy about leaving it for ages. I'll be back holding the fort again from Monday, and will be on duty until May, when I disappear again.
I've had loads of e-mails wishing me a happy holiday...so thanks to all those readers!
There will be a lot of new stock online after tomorrow....as Lou had loads of deliveries last week...so this week will see big changes.
I just cycled around the corner to see the French Dentist, and was expecting the possibilty of a filling, however, I have to have a crown, and this will be done next time I return here in May. Luckily, I dont have many fillings or bits of work done so this isnt too bad as far as news is concerned. However, in the time I was in the surgery, the heavens opened! Dearie me....I cycled home, and by the time I got here, was wet through to my underclothes! Clive and Aldo thought it very funny.....
What is needed is a nice hot cup of tea! So I'll just go and make one...then find a hairdryer!
We got our garden furniture out of the shed this morning, and realised that it is some time since it was last buffed up and varnished. The table top was looking rather unappetising....so we decided we had better do something with it. How dull can a day be? scraping and sanding, solidly! And we havent even attacked the 6 chairs and the reclining chairs yet...which I think will get postponed for another year.
So nothing to report today.....
The only plus point is that the weather was lovely and warm.
There is a new garden centre close to our French house, and now we have some kind of clean slate for a garden, we can start to think about some trees and shrubs. The weather has got a bit chilly today, so we went off to choose some trees.
We got some lovely fruit trees, and tomorrow, will dig them in....we dont have a proper design for the garden, so they will be randomly placed, with a sort of 'hope for the best' kind of plan. We'll be thrilled if we get some fruit later in the year.
Our week is almost over, and shortly we shall have to make the long journey home...the cats have enjoyed the freedom of the countryside, and Aldo has had more walks and fresh air than normal.
We've had a few glitches on the website this week...all external ones, so if you have placed an order and noted some strange computer speak after the order has gone through, just ignore it. The orders are still getting to us.
We were up early today, to commence the job of operating the mini-digger over our French garden. When the builders left, the garden was completely uneven and full up with brick rubble and the like. As well, we are in an area that ferns grow as weeds...and these things pop up out of the ground just about everywhere.
We need a simple garden that wont need much attention, as we spend most of our time in Norwich, so the next job is to sow very slow growing grass seeds. Ultimately we would like the garden to be very fragrant, with lots of orange blosson and jasmine, which seem to be very prolific down here, and we'd also like some olives, kiwis and lemons, and in time we shall get this organised.
The weather today is still very lovely...bright sun, and no clouds, albeit a little bit breezy.
I'm still answering all my e-mail and Walkers business....so dont hesitate to write.
